Mirrors Movie Review

Mirrors movie a must see with Keifer Sutherland

4 Stars. DVD Worthy!

Finally a decent fright flick to write about. Kiefer Sutherland rocks in the movie Mirrors and here’s why: Any B-rated actor would’ve made this movie another movie to sit, watch and forget about. Having a top notch actor in a movie like this makes all the difference in the world by anchoring a would be unbelievable story line to an exciting thriller.

Sutherland plays Ben Carson, an unemployed detective who finds work as a night watchman securing a burned-out upper scale department store. Odd things start happening shortly after his first night on the job which quickly turn from a “this isn’t the best job, but it pays the bills” setting to an all out “I should really find another job right the **** now!” but Ben trudges on in the search for truth. Of course, his semi-separated wife Amy Carson (played by up and coming hottie Paula Patton) won’t believe a word he has to say about his new found mirror madness.

Meanwhile Ben struggles to fight his past alcohol addiction by consuming meds and living with his sister while he gets back on his feet. You won’t want to miss Angela Carson played by cutie Amy Smart (Butterfly Effect fame and more) or her quick bare bottom scene. Of course this isn’t the only reason to check out Mirrors. Ben’s death defying search for the answers of how and why these sadomasochistic mirrors bring death to those that view them lead him to the mysterious answer: Esseker. It’s up to him whether he has the wear with all to complete the task.

For the fainthearted, there are some scenes that push the limit on the gore factor scale. For those that love this kind of stuff, check out the R-rated trailer on the official Mirrors movie site to get a better feel for what’s to come be in the movie Mirrors. Directed and written by Alexandre Aja of The Hills Have Eyes fame and writer GrĂ©gory Levasseur, this movie has a decent plot, great graphics, some decent explosions, a few buckets of blood, breastalicious scenes, gun play, evil, jumpy scenes and noises, creepy crawlies and more. What else could you ask for in a movie?

Surprisingly, Mirrors only took in 11 million bucks it’s first week in the theaters. Too bad, it’s one of the better horror flicks I’ve seen out. It only goes to show that marketing and hype can work if you do it right but it fell short for this movie this time. Make sure you pick up this DVD when it comes out.
